As the origin of innovation in Hungarian fine arts, we provide a space to reinterpret historical artworks, to receive, create and present new ones, and to participate in interactive art and community events. We believe that art truly belongs to everyone, so we encourage all of the visitors to create, discover and inhabit the living space of contemporary art!
At Hungarian Art & Business (HAB), we represent a unique cultural platform that focuses on Hungarian contemporary art: a truly diverse and vibrant scene full of talented artists who push and reimagine the boundaries of art every day. HAB is also a playful acronym that reflects the hub function of the space. As an innovative cultural centre, we offer a social meeting place that can connect visitors with art and with each other.
Our activities are housed in one of the most beautiful buildings of the classicistic palace row on Andrássy Road, which is protected as a World Heritage Site. The house was built by Ferenc József Landauer in the late 1800s as a summer residence, and was rebuilt in 1898: the façade and interior of the building are the work of architects Ignác Alpár and István Pucher.
The eclectic-neo-Renaissance style house has been owned by many proprietors and visited by countless guests over the past 120 years. The building, which has a rich history, is now under the care of MBH Bank to serve as a home for the Hungarian contemporary art scene.
As a groundbreaking art initiative, our primary mission is to promote the contemporary art scene in Hungary and the region, by providing quality cultural and social programmes for visitors, exhibitions, workshops, residencies and scholarships for artists.
Our main goal is to contribute to: the development of Hungarian contemporary art, the socialisation of art and the creation of dialogue through art. We are committed to offering visitors an experience and a connection to art.
The HAB was established and carries out its daily professional activities with the support of MBH Bank* and the MBH Bank Art Foundation.
