The Best of Diploma is one of the most important events of the end of the academic year at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and, as in the previous year, is hosted this year by HAB. The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the diversity of artistic education at the university and provides insight into the mindset and creative approach of the next generation of artists. From every department of the university, a professional jury selects graduating students’ diploma works that, in addition to outstanding artistic quality, sensitively and authentically represent the spirit of the university and the individual vision of the young creators.
This year’s diploma works strongly address themes of identity exploration, mental and generational trauma, body image, memory, and the relationship between technology and humanity. These pieces reflect both the contemporary anxieties and the hope that honest articulation of personal experiences can create genuine connections. The works raise not only questions but also a demand for a more compassionate, humane world. In selecting the best diploma works, the jury regarded high artistic and professional standards as the primary criteria. The decision was based on a combined assessment of the conceptual strength of the works, their technical execution, and their underlying research—specifically the theoretical grounding presented in the theses. The exhibition presents those creations that most fully represent the professional preparedness and artistic thinking of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts’ graduating students in 2026.
